San Mateo, CA
The goals for this remodeling of a 1,200 s.f. residence in San Mateo including a complete renovation of the kitchen and breakfast area and opening both up to the modestly sized living room, employing the concept that smaller spaces can feel more generous in size by opening into one another. The renovation was accomplished all within the existing footprint of the house.
The home of a noted Bay Area Chef, her husband and family, the kitchen was hardly conducive to creative cooking. Providing all newly-designed cabinetwork, counters, fixtures and appliances along with opening and connecting the kitchen to the dining and living spaces created a completely new focus for the spaces supporting the heart of the family's life.
